Kemfiyk is my fantasy worldbuilding project. More of a labor of love that I work on for fun than a project conceived as a means to an end. The main aspects that I tend to focus on are its religion - in the form of a Greek mythology style pantheon whose gods (theoretically) have the power to interact directly with the mortal world, and the politics of the expanding empire displacing and assimilating the people in its surrounding towns, as it grows like a rot.

The world was shaped by a pantheon of deities who (with a few notable exceptions) are bound by the god-queen Sanose to no longer mingle in the lives of mortals like they did in the past, when the settlements and cultures were first shaped. One of these settlements is Zersdiys: an imperialistic, militaristic and ever-expanding city sprawling through an entire mountain range, and the center of the Vnitizh Empire. Ruled by the Naprepmum Clan, descendants of the city's founders, the quality of living is high, but so is their intolerance to several outsider groups.

Nearby towns, such as the agricultural Kmazh, simply act as vassal states, routing their trade goods and resources back toward the heart of the empire to feed and occupy its people. All the while, its military forces pillage the further out settlements, taking land for the Zersdiyr Empire, displacing all of the descendants of the other two clans, and taking some - the Datreminde, elvenfolk who nowadays live hidden away lives in the far south of the mainland - as slaves and domestic serfs in these newly annexed territories, or even shipping them in trade to the isle of Ghimryi, where the mercantile city of Kukimre and the tourist-filled hub city of Lutkrothe are found. Datre servants are treated as valuable assets there, rather than people, especially for Lutkrothe's hospitality industry. As such, those of elven descent avoid cities and towns heavily trafficked by Ghimryr or Zersdiyr folk. The other clan, the Yepse, have managed to hold onto more of their original territory, culture, and livelihoods than the Datre, but it costs them in other ways to play by the rules of the oppressive Naprepmum regime, and it is only closing its fist tighter and tighter around those who remain close to the heart of the empire.

But that's only an extremely surface level rundown of primarily Zersdiyr/Vnitizh politics that doesn't even take into account the deities who are responsible for any of this world or its people existing or the divine Kingdom of Odughryi, the Western Desert and its four-legged inhabitants, the Northwestern island of Ghotbryi where many of the Yepse's descendants fled to, the Southeastern archipelago where Sanose took her first step - shattering the earth - and its several cultures, the cult that surrounds a mysterious and magical glowing fruit, or the rumours of a walled kingdom shrouded in mist, where the queens have been ruling undisturbed and beloved by their subjects for supposedly thousands of years. So hopefully, I come back and share some more from it, eventually!!
